The exhibition “Microbes in the home” was opened at the Icelandic Museum of Design on 27 September 2024. The exhibition details human-microbial daily collaboration in the home, focusing on the kitchen, where microbes are responsible for pickling and fermenting various foodstuffs. The exhibition also discusses microbes in the design process, for textile coloring, and composting.

Ragnheiður Maísól Sturludóttir, Ingibjörg Sædís and Elín Arna Kristjánsdóttir Ringsted designed the exhibition, in collaboration with the Museum of Design and Sigríður Sigurjónsdóttir, museum director.
